How to spot a Virgo child

They will be standing quietly, observing all activities. Their heads will turn, and their eyes will dart at every moving thing. They will run towards a group of kids to play but stand on the periphery, determining if they have a place in the game. They will assume they don’t more often than assuming they do. They will happily play on their own, but their curious mind will have them doing something so intriguing that others will notice and want to do it, too. Finally, when chaos gets to be too much, they will retreat to a more singular, quiet activity, most likely with a best friend or two.

Likes and dislikes

They dislike chaos. Virgos like to help around the house and garden. They dislike being criticized. Virgos like talking and being heard. They dislike it when they aren’t taken seriously. Virgos like to read and be read to. They dislike being the center of attention. They like making independent choices. Virgos like structure and freedom within that structure. They dislike being micromanaged.

Emotions, behavior, discipline

Your Virgo will most likely be a quiet baby and child, except when their feelings are hurt. They can cry at what seems to be more confident people like the slightest things. They have a natural lack of self-confidence that makes them feel unworthy of love, attention, and affection. Virgos are born with an analytical knack to see the problems in everything. They have the desire and persistence to fix them. If something is dirty, they want to clean it. If Mom or Dad is upset, they want to fix the problem so they aren’t. If a friend is sad, they want to get all the information they can to help them make it better. Because of their keen eye for detail, Virgos tend to only see problems, and they only see issues in themselves. If you hear them being critical of others, it should give you pause to realize that they are ten times more critical of themselves inside. They feel that love is only earned by being flawless.

A critical parent will create a Virgo who works extra hard at being the perfection they think is expected of them. Suppose they are rarely or never recognized for their hard work, kindness, helpfulness, or good deeds. In that case, Virgos can get extremely depressed and guard their feelings. One goal to have is to raise a Virgo with a healthy amount of self-confidence and pride. Show them lots of acceptance from infancy by allowing them to express themselves without blaming them for how they express upset. Most people do that anyway, but if the child has difficulties of any kind, try to soothe yourself so they don’t feel your discouragement.

Some Virgos may seem to resist or not care about closeness. It is usually due to their highly sensitive nervous system and overload of energy on their empathic bodies. Show them tremendous amounts of affection anyway unless they show you they want space. Don’t take it personally. They need a lot of room to process their active minds. Tell them how much you love them and the things you like about your child. List the details about them that you enjoy. They love lists and knowing what others think. They will remember what you say, so be prepared to consciously choose your words.

Like Gemini, they are ruled by Mercury, which makes them quick-witted, take information in at a rapid pace, and are natural writers and communicators. Gemini will play with ideas because it is an Air Sign, and they live in the realm of thoughts. Earth Sign Virgo will digest the information, breaking it down quickly but thoroughly to pragmatically apply it to solve a problem. Virgos also develops self-confidence by learning as much as they can about what they enjoy and practicing until they are good. They may seem uninterested in learning a new skill or talent at first. They lack the confidence that, for instance, a Leo has to get out there and try, believing in themselves no matter what. The best thing to do is listen to them about their worries, which they have many of, and tell them plainly what they are doing well, what needs improvement, and that you will get them the help they need to improve on their goal.

Leos loves to compete with others for glory. Their neighbor sign, Virgo, loves to compete with themselves to get better. They don’t necessarily need to be the best, but they have to reach the approval of their own high standards. They usually have a vision of success that includes recognition, perfection, balance in life, and living their ideals. It looks like the ability to work hard, succeed, have happy relationships, help others, and relax. Relaxation often comes last for Virgo. You can tell when their mind is too full of worries or thoughts when they fidget during bedtime or dart off to find something else to do when it’s time to eat, watch a movie, read or do homework.

Virgos are little empaths, and while they tend to worry a lot themselves, they pick up quickly on the stresses and worries of those around them. If they sense something is upsetting you, they may take on extra responsibilities to try and release the pressure in you or the family. The best way to help your child from taking on these kinds of worries is to establish an early pattern of making getting out into nature just as important a priority as doing their homework or picking up their room. Nature is Virgo’s best friend, and so are pets. Another focus to set for them is to have fun. Virgos also put fun last on their list.

They can be solemn little people. They are born 40 years old but stay 40 years old their entire lives. But, that’s also good because they are one of the signs who get more youthful with age. Virgos tend to like free form activities like swimming, trampolines, fun houses, and places where they can let their inner laughter out. They are hilarious people with a wit that will have others rolling when they loosen up enough to let it out. Their observations are so keen that they often see things in life are ironic or paradoxical that it’s
too funny not to share. They have a cynicism about them that keeps people grounded. They are humble in what they do and are helpful for the sake of being useful.

To go unappreciated is Virgo’s worst nightmare. Virgos who aren’t raised with a strong sense of self-worth will continue to give to others who solely take. They will resent not getting back, reinforcing their inner belief that they aren’t good enough. Don’t boast your Virgo with lies. That will hurt more than the hard truth. They desire to work hard. It’s where their self-esteem is built. Encourage their industriousness, impose breaks filled with relaxation and fun on them and remind them that it’s one step at a time. You are there for them, encouraging them to be the independent, high achiever that they are.
