Key Phrase I BELIEVE
How to spot a Pisces child
The Pisces child will be acting out the most elaborate imaginary
scenes. At the same time, their friends try to play along. You will see Pisces beam smiles of joy as their eyes squint and sparkle. At the same time, the colorful scene in their mind plays so realistically that they will have a hard time coming back into reality. Should any of their playmates feel left out, the Pisces will give them a special part that only they can play.
Likes and Dislikes
Pisces likes being creative. They dislike rote learning. Pisces likes freedom. They dislike too much structure. Pisces like seeing the best in people. They dislike unkind behavior. Pisces like giving people many chances. They dislike when people are upset with them. Pisces like cheering people up. They dislike feeling misunderstood but often do. Pisces like reading books, going to plays, and seeing movies. They dislike small talk.
Emotions, Behavior, and Discipline
Your Pisces child is extremely sensitive. They feel everything, and because of that, they often need to retreat from sensory overload to indulge in alone time. Help cultivate a healthy balance for your Pisces’ need to be alone and with people. If too fearful, Pisces has a tendency to hide from problems. Give your Pisces child ample space to process their feelings, but find the sweet spot in their cycle to talk to them about what is going on. Show love, support, and compassion for who they are and their feelings because that is one and the same for them. Just listen when they talk. If you have any advice to help them solve their problem or feel better about the situation, ask them if they’d like to hear it. Most likely, they will because they always want to solve the issues and rifts with loved ones. Then offer them a chance to join in with family or friends again, but give them space if they still need time to process.
Pisces can be the most trusting sign of all and give people many chances where others might not. However, Pisces’ inclination to see the best in people may make them overlook lousy behavior in some and become an easy target for manipulation. Keep a watchful eye and make sure you get to know their friends and parents. Also, make sure that no siblings or cousins take advantage of their kind and generous nature. Use as many real-life examples and stories from books and movies to make your child aware of how people can seem like a friend. Still, ultimately their intention is to take advantage of their kindness. Teach your child to see red flags in others and instead to help people who are already helping themselves. Point out the givers and the takers. Reassure them that it’s okay to have compassion for the takers, but it’s not okay for the takers to take from you or your child. They will feel for people who are so hurt that they hurt others. Demonstrate for your Pisces how healthy it is to care for yourself first.
Fragile Pisces can also fall hard emotionally from disappointments. Their idealistic nature tends to make them have high expectations. Show them that you accept them for who they are. Model for them being let down yourself, but accepting that reality sometimes has other things in store. Show them to always look for the silver lining.
Pisces are daydreamers, night dreamers, and imaginative princes and princesses. They live in a fairy world and also the world of earth gods and goddesses. Their dreams and imagination are often filled with realistic, psychic insights. To them, their imagination and dreams are both real. If they are acting out an imaginary play or talking to a friend who isn’t there, listen to them. They
may be picking up on the feelings and lives of others. In time, you will tell the difference between what they are creating from their imagination and information flowing through them from someplace else. You might find it interesting to document what they say. If your Pisces gets stuck in sad or worrisome feelings, help them by offering to play along in their imaginary world. Have them direct you. This may help them release stressful feelings.
Another potential issue to be mindful of with Pisces is that their escape can reach unhealthy levels. Give them space to read away the day or play video games. However, be aware that they can quickly get addicted to escaping from the world by checking out into imaginary land. Help get them into healthy activities regularly to feel connected with their family and world. They’ll need a healthy balance of inward and outward time. Suppose their emotions aren’t expressed, and they are allowed too much time alone. In that case, they can later develop more harmful escape methods. They may want to escape most when they feel hopeless about the world. Help alleviate these feelings by volunteering with them at an animal shelter or helping them take care of plants or babies. Bring them to visit the elderly. They will love telling them stories and hearing theirs!
Similar to their opposite sign, Virgo, Pisces can struggle with self-worth. They often feel like they can’t live up to their own ideals. Make it a habit of telling them the things you genuinely enjoy about them, inside and out. Encourage their creative and expressive pursuits and give them kind and constructive feedback when needed. Pisces can swim through life on their own timeline. It’s helpful to provide structure for them by following schedules but allowing them space to adapt. Soon they will be doing things on their own. Pisces are easily entertained but try not to take too much advantage, letting them play for too long alone. Get the family to engage in creative activities with your Pisces child, even if it only means being their audience. Encourage the family to compliment each other and share their likes about their siblings and parents. This will help your Pisces have naturally healthy self-esteem.
