Your Aquarius child will be a charming, bright spot in your family. They are quick-witted and ready to laugh at everything. But, there is also a serious side to them. They are observant of the world and the plights of humanity. So, they will be more than eager to discuss it with you and to share their ideas to help others. Aquarius has a high intellect. They enjoy reading and prefer well-written stories that have dramatic plot twists. Their naturally inventive minds soak up all kinds of information, mainly to do with science and technology.

Aquarius are stubborn but embrace changes faster than any other Fixed sign. This is due to their quick mental nature. And a desire to understand what else is outin the world, universe, and the future. So, while they may know that doing one thing is better for them, they will also resist doing it. In this case, if you want to implement something new, plant the seeds early, then have a logical conversation about it. Then set the date to start that newthing. Give them a few days to sleep on it and mentally adjust before actually doing it.

As an Air sign, Aquarius lives in their minds, but they also carry the emotions of humanity as the Water Bearer. While they often appear aloof and aren’t emotionally demonstrative, they also understand that living beings hurt. Their minds work very hard to solve the significant problems of the world. Helping them get involved in efforts to affect change will allow them to feel like they are living their soul’s purpose. They may desire to volunteer at a shelter. They may want to call, write or make a video for a representative or spearhead a campaign in their school to improve the lives of others. Your Aquarius will benefit greatly from these efforts.

Aquarius has a playful and fun nature. They need to move their electric bodies and express their uniqueness. Dance, theater, sports, treasure hunts, or anything wildly interesting to your child will help them ground their ever-active minds. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) classes would interest the Aquarius child. As very young children, they will love being read to and allowed to play with toys a little beyond their age. They love to learn how things work. Try to tune into what lights up your Aquarius child and give them opportunities to learn more about those things. Whether it’s biology, nursing, aviation, space exploration, or veterinary issues, give your child as much knowledge as they can soak up. As they grow older and apply it, they will have greater opportunities to use their genius-like brains.

Your child will likely stay away from drama, although the injustice of it will bother them. While they tend to remain aloof when there is drama, they may want to talk to you about it later. Listen to them and give them practical advice about either talking things out with their friends, standing up for someone or finding new friends. Since they are curious and love all of humanity, they can sometimes attract an unusual crowd of friends. Make sure you get to know all of their friends as they may be too accepting of people who aren’t the healthiest influences.

Getting to sleep might prove difficult for your Aquarius child. They need a little help quieting their minds at night. Focus on having a long bedtime routine that starts reasonably early. Turn down the energy in the house after dinner. Low lights, a stroll, a bath, reading books quietly, and rocking are great for any young child but are essential for the Aquarius child.  They love routines and especially ones that they invent for themselves. You can influence them early in choosing healthy habits by providing consistent, calming activities that they can add to or change as they grow older.

Aquarians can be very sensitive to authority figures who condescend to them. Teach your child that everyone sees things from a different perspective and some people only see the negative. Some people may even be intimidated by a child being so clever. Let them know that their intelligence comes with the responsibility of being kind. As Aquarians grow older, they are also susceptible to being condescending and thinking they know it all. They can get insecure or threatened if they fear they don’t know enough. By using other people as examples of how not to treat others, you can teach your child about having empathy and compassion for those so threatened that they judge others based on their intelligence. Sometimes people make mistakes and don’t have the answers. It’s okay to say, “I don’t know,” or “I don’t understand,” and move on. Look it up later! Things can always be learned but not always known at the moment.
