The Sagittarius child is highly outgoing. They go after whatever they want, whether it’s a sports team, a debate team, an art competition, or romantic interest. While they are popular, social, and friendly, your Sagittarius can be very blunt. They see life as it is, are also optimistic, and don’t see the harm in expressing themselves frankly. Teach your Sagittarius about social etiquette from an early age. Model good manners for them. They are very observant kids and learn quickly, so being exposed to how you speak to people will inform them. You may come across some blunders with your Sagittarius. You can use those examples to teach them how being too honest can hurt people’s feelings. Sagittarius has an insatiable desire to explore. Their insatiable curiosity leads them down many intellectual and physical paths. Their willingness to learn can lead them to wander in their minds and also down the street. Have consistent yet light structure around their freedom. Be prepared to teach them about staying close to you and home unless they get permission to go off by themselves. For toddlers, set timers when it’s time to end an activity or start a new one. Give them age-appropriate freedoms. While they are significant risk-takers, they also learn from their mistakes. So, as long as your bookshelves and other precarious items are bolted down, let them discover their world independently.

Sagittarius has tremendous amounts of energy. If they are interested in doing a lot of activities, they will have the stamina for it, but make sure they take time to rest. They will need time alone to reflect. Don’t be surprised if your bubbly Sagittarius retreats to their room or playhouse for some peaceful reflection. They often work out their day privately, in their own minds, and share it with you later. Sagittarius feels deeply but prefers to keep it private until they are ready to expose those emotions.

Your Sagittarius child will most likely be an optimist. While they see reality, they always see the silver lining. Life excites them, and they believe things will always turn out well. Because of this belief, your Sagittarius child might put off doing something, thinking it will all work out somehow.

Your child will also seek recognition for achievements, so give a lot of positive reinforcement so they can feel the satisfaction of that recognition. Whatever your child decides to do, they will be good at it. They will also be very generous. Because of their risk-taking tendencies and ability to see things working out for the best, they will likely have a habit of giving their money away or spending it fast. Teach them about earning, saving, and budgeting so that they don’t find themselves constantly trying to catch up to their gambles. Positive reinforcement and recognition will help in this category, too.

Sagittarius rules the Ninth House of teaching, learning, cultures, travel, religion, spirituality, and philosophy. They will always seek the great truths of the world, hoping to uncover answers to the biggest mysteries. They may ask you a lot of questions that you aren’t able to answer. Instead of inventing an answer, ponder things with them and then, when you can, lead them to the right books, teachers, or places that may have more in-depth explanations. Your Sagittarius may feel deep down that the answers they find will never fully satisfy them. Continue to encourage their studies. Show them you have faith in their brilliant minds by investing in the classes they are interested in. You may also want to set aside a travel fund or teach them to save their money early when they want to travel or pay for their own classes later. It will be a good lesson in long-term goals with huge, soulful payoffs!
